These are traditionally accompanied by regional dishes such as bacon, doughnuts and roasted chestnuts. We are proud of our wine region and the resulting traditions. We are happy to share these with guests from all over the world.
We at the Schartner Alm also believe that a good meal needs a perfectly matched wine. That's why you'll find a selection of regional wines to match the food in our “Feines Eck'l”.

South Tyrolean festivals in autumn
As mentioned above, South Tyrol is never boring, even in the cooler months of the year. It's not only a time for harvesting apples and wine, but also for celebrating festivals. You will find a wide range of harvest festivals and much more. One of the most popular is the Kastelruther Spatzen festival. The Kastelruther Spatzen have been entertaining South Tyroleans and visitors with their music for over 40 years. The tradition-conscious group never misses an opportunity to delight young and old with their cheerful music every October in Kastelruth.
The diversity of nature and the shorter days are also reflected in the animal world. For the cows, autumn means coming down from the mountain. The cattle drive has always been an old custom in the alpine world. Dairy cows that have spent the summer on the mountain pastures are decorated with elaborate wreaths and driven down to the valley. There they are brought back to their home herds. This is celebrated with a big party. The aim is to express the joy of a successful alpine season. The Almabtrieb is a very important festival in South Tyrol.
