Renon is a true paradise for hikers in South Tyrol, with its diverse landscapes and picturesque views. Here are some of the most beautiful hiking trails:

1. earth pyramids of Ritten

The hike to the earth pyramids is an absolute must. These fascinating formations are simply unique and offer an impressive sight. The trail leads through picturesque forests and meadows. You will be rewarded with spectacular views. The tour is easy and is also very suitable for families. There are informative boards along the way that tell you more about the formation of the earth pyramids.

Two variants of the hike are available to you: 

A) Length: approx. 6 km; Duration: 2 hours; Difficulty level: Easy
B) Length approx. 4 km; duration: 1 hour; level of difficulty: easy

2nd South Tyrolean Sky Tour

For those looking for a bit more of a challenge, the hike to the Rittner Horn is ideal. The trail leads through varied landscapes and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Dolomites. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy a wonderful 360° panoramic view to the full. This hike is perfect for experienced hikers. It is also important that you are in good physical condition if you want to tackle this hike. There are numerous refreshment stops along the way and at the finish.

3rd panoramic circular trail

To get to the starting point, the Schwarzseespitze, we recommend using the cable car. This is included with the Rittencard, which you can get from us at the SchartnerAlm. The panoramic trail offers a relaxing hike with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. You can also see the valley very well from above.  This route leads along lush meadows and tranquil forests. This hiking trail is not only suitable for nature lovers, photographers will also be delighted to have explored this trail. The hike also connects to other hikes, so you can customise the route to your liking.

There is also a great themed trail for families along this route: the Toni Trail, which tells a story for young and old in a variety of stations.

4th Shepherds' Trail

The themed trail ‘Hirtensteig’ (shepherds' path) brings you closer to the life of the shepherds, the cattle and the special features of one of the largest communal alpine pastures in Europe at five stations - not only today, but also from the distant past. It is a well-signposted hike through the forest that leads slightly above the tree line. The starting point is Tann and can be reached by bus in approx. 3 minutes from the SchartnerAlm.

5th circular hike from the SchartnerAlm to Maria Saal

One of the most recommended hikes starts at the SchartnerAlm. You hike along a varied path to the Tann, past smaller and larger farms where you can observe various animals. Behind the Hotel Tann, you continue along a wide forest path to the Bad Sies inn, where we recommend a stop for refreshments (a mountain inn with a unique view of the Dolomites and excellent cuisine). Via Mittelberg you come to Maria Saal, where you can admire the magnificent church with its onion dome. A short forest path takes you back to the SchartnerAlm.

6. fen promenade

The Fennpromenade is one of the most popular hikes in the region. This easy route leads through a beautiful landscape. It offers breathtaking views of the Dolomites. Ideal for families, the trail also offers numerous rest stops. Along the way, you can marvel at the diverse flora and fauna of the region.

7th Freud Promenade

This walk leads from Oberbozen to Lichtenstern and finally to Klobenstein. To get to the starting point, you can use the Ritten narrow-gauge railway. This is included thanks to the Rittencard, which you can get from us at the SchartnerAlm.  Enjoy the fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trail leads through dense forests and lush meadows and is ideal for hikers looking for a relaxed hike. The destination is once again the SchartnerAlm where we will spoil you with a savoury cake or an aperitif on our sun terrace.

8th Klobenstein to the Rittner Hornbahn cable car

This trail connects two of the most beautiful points in Ritten. The varied hiking trail leads through the residential area of Klobenstein, through small and larger forest islands and finally to the valley station of the Rittner Hornbahn cable car. This trail also leads past the SchartnerAlm, with marvellous views along the way. This tour is ideal for those who like to explore nature on varied trails. You can celebrate the crowning finale with a gondola ride up the Rittner Horn, which takes you to the Schwarzseespitze.
