Sustainability

Our concept for sustainable harmony

By visiting SchartnerAlm, our guests are not only choosing a wide range of offerings but also a nature-friendly and sustainable vacation option.

Climate House
The Climate House, built in 2019, is certified as KlimaHaus Class A and guarantees the highest living comfort with the lowest heating costs due to its forward-looking construction. Specifically, Class A describes “NZEB buildings” (nearly zero energy buildings), and the heating energy requirement is less than 30 kWh/m²a (kilowatt-hours per square meter of living space per year).

Bio Pool
SchartnerAlm also offers guests the chance to refresh themselves in the Bio Pool, which is also located on the premises. The water in the bio pool is constantly in motion, flowing through a gravel filter and is biologically treated according to Ö-Norm L 1128. The resulting biofilm in the gravel filter ensures a biologically stable and naturally clean bathing water with drinking water quality. The bio pool is a living system that interacts with its environment.

Photovoltaic System
We rely on sustainable energy sources and have installed a photovoltaic system on the roof to generate green electricity. The additional electricity we purchase also comes from 100% green energy.

Recycling and Upcycling
Recycling and upcycling play a central role at SchartnerAlm. Through a perfected waste separation system and a dedicated recycling station with color-coded bins, a significant reduction in the ecological footprint is achieved. Organic waste such as ash and compost is reused, while upcycling projects like Doghammer find innovative ways to convert used materials into new products. These measures are part of our commitment to a sustainable and environmentally friendly operation.

Environmental Protection
At SchartnerAlm, a comprehensive commitment to environmental protection and sustainability is practiced. The facility is home to a variety of wild animals, such as squirrels, dormice, ravens, woodpeckers, and redstarts. Additionally, after setting up the campsite, 300 native trees and shrubs were planted to rejuvenate the forest and enhance oxygen production. Guests use the Ritten Card for free public transportation and can rent e-bikes, which reduces the use of motorized vehicles. Wastewater is treated through an internal purification system before it enters the sewage system, and a recycling station with waste separation by trained staff significantly contributes to reducing the ecological footprint.
